Usage Import Does Not Report Ad Clicks Properly (263277)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
This article was previously published under Q263277 SYMPTOMS
When reporting against Placement Locations, Usage Import does not report Ad Clicks properly.
CAUSE
The problem occurs when an Internet client sends a request that does not specify a default document or virtual directory in the referrer string (for example, http://www.adserver.com versus www.adserver.com/adsite). Usage Import uses the referrer to match Ad Clicks to placement locations. If the referrer does not contain the third slash mark (/) that usually precedes a default document or virtual directory, it does not save the referrer string.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, specify a referrer string.
