SUMMARY

This article provides information about the Microsoft Windows NT user and group accounts that are created and used by Microsoft Application Center 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

Note that in the following descriptions <COMPUTER_NAME> is the name of the Windows NT Server on which Application Center 2000 is installed.

The following accounts are created during the installation of Application Center 2000:
  • ACA_<COMPUTER_NAME> Group
    • This group is given access to the ACLog database in the Microsoft Application Center (MSAC) Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) instance on each cluster member that has MSDE installed for logging purposes.
    • This group is also granted launch and access permissions to all internal Application Center COM interfaces.
  • ACL_<COMPUTER_NAME> User
    • This user is a member of the ACA_<COMPUTER_NAME> group.
    • This user is used as the identity for the COM+ applications that are installed and used by the Application Center, which are:

      • AC Event Provider
      • AC Log Consumer
      • AC Load Balancer

Because AC Log Consumer uses Microsoft SQL Server Integrated Security to connect to the MSAC MSDE instance, this account must be in the ACA_<COMPUTER_NAME> group.
The following account is created during cluster creation:
  • ACC_<COMPUTER_NAME>
    • The <COMPUTER_NAME> for this account is that of the original cluster controller. When computers are added to the cluster, this account is replicated to the newly added members.
    • This user is a member of the ACA_<COMPUTER_NAME> group.
    • This account is used for Cluster Services DCOM communications between cluster members.
