Links LS 98 Setup Error Message: Not Enough Space (262193)

When you attempt to install Links LS 1998 Edition on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based or Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Not Enough Space.
IMPORTANT: You cannot install Links LS 1998 Edition on an NTFS file system partition.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons:
- Not enough hard disk space is available to install Links LS 98.
- More than 2 gigabytes (GB) of space is available on the hard disk.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, determine how much space is available on your hard disk, and then use the appropriate method.
To determine how much space is available on your hard disk:
- On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Right-click the hard disk on which you want to install Links LS 98, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, note the amount of available disk space on the Free space line, and then click OK.
If the amount of available hard disk space is less than 218 megabytes (MB), proceed to the "Increase Available Hard Disk Space" method.
If the amount of available hard disk space is greater than 2 GB, proceed to the "Decrease Available Hard Disk Space" method.
If the amount of available hard disk space is greater than 218 MB and less than 2 GB, proceed to the "Correct Amount of Hard Disk Space Is Available" method.
Increase Available Hard Disk Space
If less than 218 MB of space is available on the hard disk on which you want to install Links LS 98, use one of the following methods:

Decrease Available Hard Disk Space
If the amount of available space on the hard disk is greater than 2 GB, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented:
Create and fill a temporary folder with disposable files- Insert the Links LS 1998 Edition Disk 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
where cd-rom is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Close the CD-ROM window.
- On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Double-click the hard disk on which you want to install Links LS 98.
- On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.
- Type Junk, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click the Junk folder.
- On the File menu, point to New, click Folder, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click the new folder.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
NOTE: Copying the contents of the CD-ROM to the folder on the hard disk may take several minutes. - Check the amount of available hard disk space.
If more than 2 GB remains available on the hard disk, click Junk on the File menu, repeat steps 12 through 14 to create another folder, and then copy the contents of the CD-ROM into the new folder.
If less than 2 GB remains available on the hard disk, close all open windows, and then proceed to the next method.
Install Links LS 98- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
where cd-rom is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install Links LS 98.
Delete the temporary folder- On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Double-click the hard disk on which you installed Links LS 98.
- Right-click the Junk folder, click Delete, and then click Yes.
- On the desktop, right-click Recycle Bin, click Empty Recycle Bin, and then click Yes.
Correct Amount of Hard Disk Space Is AvailableInstall the latest NT 4.0 Service Pack
If the amount of available hard disk space is greater than 218 megabytes (MB) and less than 2 GB, download and install the latest Service Pack for Windows NT 4.0 from the following Microsoft Web site:

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.
Copy animation files from the Links LS 98 CD-ROM
If you receive the error message when Links LS 98 Setup is creating the animations, copy the animation files from Links LS 98 CD-ROM to the Links 98 folder on your hard disk, and then rename them.
To do this:
- Insert the Links LS 1998 Edition Disk 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
where cd-rom is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.
- To copy the 15 MB animations, click to highlight the Fem1_15.ls file, and then press and hold down the CTRL key as you click to highlight the following files:
- Fem2_15.ls
- Male1_15.ls
- Male2_15.ls
- Male3_15.ls
- Palmer15.ls
To copy the 30 MB animations, click to highlight the Fem1_30.ls file, and then press and hold down the CTRL key as you click to highlight the following files:- Fem2_30.ls
- Male1_30.ls
- Male2_30.ls
- Male3_30.ls
- Palmer30.ls
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Close the Ani window.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
drive:\Program Files\LinksLS98\ani
where drive is the drive letter for the hard disk on which Links LS 98 is installed. - On the Edit menu, click Paste.
- On the File menu, click Properties.
- Click to clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK.
- Rename the files.
To rename a file, right-click the file, click Rename, type the new name for the file, and then press ENTER.
The following table lists the original file name and the corresponding new file name for each animation file.
