OL2000: Form Cache Problem After You Update an Organizational Form (262037)

SYMPTOMS

After you republish a Microsoft Outlook custom form, you may receive the following error message when you use the form:
The form you selected could not be displayed. The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator.
When you receive this error message, Outlook does not quit and you must use the Microsoft Windows Task Manager to close the program.

CAUSE

You used the Forms Manager to copy an updated version of a custom form from a folder or your Personal Forms Library to the Organizational Forms Library.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use the Forms Manager to update forms in the Organizational Forms Library. Instead, directly publish the form. To publish the form, click the Tools menu in a form, point to Forms, and then click Publish Form.

To fix the problem after you use the Forms Manager to update the form:
  1. Use the Forms Manager to delete the form from the Organizational Forms Library.
  2. Open an the form on your computer.
  3. On the Tools menu, point to Forms, and then click Publish Form As.
  4. Click Organizational Forms Library in the Look in list, name the form, and then click Publish.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 2002.

To access the Forms Manager, click Options on the Tools menu, click Advanced Options on the Other tab, click Custom Forms, and then click Manage Forms. You can then click Set to choose a forms library.
