FP2000: Custom Confirmation Page Displays Form Field Name or Error Message (261971)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a custom confirmation page for a form that posts to a database, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • The name of the form field to confirm is displayed in your Web browser, rather than the value of the form field.

    -or-
  • You receive the following error message in your Web browser:
    Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions' Smart HTML interpreter on this non-HTML page: "http://nameofserver/nameofweb/nameofpage"
    where nameofserver is the name of the server, nameofweb is the web name, and nameofpage is the file name of your web; for example, http://localhost/testweb/new_page_3.htm.

CAUSE

When an ASP page is used with a custom confirmation page, the confirmation page code is not parsed along with the ASP page.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
