Unable to Install CanoScan FB 620U Scanner Software by Cannon on Windows Me (261843)

When you attempt to install the software for CanoScan FB 620U Scanner, the installation does not succeed, and you receive the following error message:
The CanoScan FB620U is designed for use on Windows 98 only. Installation on this operating system is not possible and will be aborted.
You are able to install the scanner driver from the CD-ROM, and the scanner diagnostics indicate that the scanner is working properly.
CAUSE
The scanner software reads the Windows version number, and shuts down after it reads a version number that is not 4.10.xxx.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact Canon and obtain an updated version of the software for CanoScan FB 620U Scanner. The software may be obtained from the following Canon Web site:
