Network Diagnostics Does Not Report Hotmail As a Configured E-mail Service (261828)

When you view the Services category in the Network Diagnostics tool, Mail Service may appear as "(None Configured)." The Mail Server will also display "(empty)." This can occur if you configured Hotmail as the default mail account in Microsoft Outlook Express.
CAUSE
The Network Diagnostics tool included in Windows Millennium Edition does not include support for recognizing HTTP Mail systems, such as Hotmail.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
