SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) DVD Player, you may receive the following error message:
To use the DVD player, you need to install either a software DVD decoder, or a hardware DVD decoder. For more information, click Help.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use either a Sigma Designs Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder or a Creative Labs Dxr3 Decoder card.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, contact the manufacturer of your decoder card for any device driver updates, at the following Web sites:
