XCCC: Conference Management Service on Second Domain Controller Cannot Log On to Information Store (260765)

When you install Exchange Conferencing Server on two domain controllers located in separate domains in a Windows 2000 forest, the Conference Management Service (CMS) on the domain controller in the first domain (DC1) logs on to the information store, but the CMS on the domain controller in the second domain (DC2) may not log on. This may be the case even though authentication between domains is successful.
Attempts to resolve this issue by changing the default Free/Busy public folders on DC2 to point to DC1 are not successful.
Changing permissions on the Free/Busy public store to allow the same privileges for both Exchange 2000 Servers, also does not resolve the issue.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when conferencing resources and the Global Mailbox are not in the same domain, and the Free/Busy public folder is not replicated on each server in that domain, for each conferencing site.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, replicate the Free/Busy public folder for the conferencing site from the server where the Free/Busy public folder is homed to other servers within the domain, and limit Exchange 2000 mailboxes to servers within the domain.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
