OL2000: The Calendar Control Is Blank for a New Appointment or Task (259542)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new appointment or task and then attempt to choose the date for the start time or end time, the calendar control is blank and no days are shown.

CAUSE

The exact cause for this problem is not known, but you may have a damaged Outllib.dll file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, rename, and then replace the Outllib.dll file:

Rename the Outllib.dll File

  1. Quit all programs and disable any anti virus software.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  3. In the Named box, type outllib.dll, set the Look in box to your hard disk, and then click to select the Include subfolders check box.
  4. Click Find Now.
  5. When the search is complete, right-click the Outllib.dll file, click Rename, and then change the file name to Outllib.old.

Replace the Outllib.dll File

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Microsoft Office 2000 in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Repair Office.
  5. Click Repair errors in my Office installation, and then click Finish.

When you use Outlook contact, appointment, task, and journal entry forms, you can choose a date if you click the day that you want from the calendar. This feature is internal to Outlook; you cannot access the feature from another program because it is not a separate control.
