SUMMARY

When you try to access a Server Message Block (SMB) server on Sun Solaris or other UNIX versions by using the net view or net use command from a Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Error 1734: \\servername is not accessible. The array bounds are invalid.

MORE INFORMATION

The client is receiving an RPC_S_INVALID_BOUND error message from the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) that makes a call to the SMB (or Samba) server. If an SMB server on the UNIX server sends incorrect data in the RPC response, the client reports the error message listed in the "Symptoms" section.

Because of the strengthened error-checking mechanism in the Windows 2000 RPC run-time routine, the error is detected and reported to the user.

Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and earlier versions ignore this error and continue without displaying an error message. Please check with the manufacturer for an updated version of SMB server that addresses this issue.
