Works: Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled in Ftprnt32.dll (258813)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use any of the components in Microsoft Works, you may receive the following error message on a blue screen:
Stop 0x0000001E (0XC0000005 0XF73d84a2,0x100000001 0X00000044) Kmode_exception_not_handled***address F73d84a2 has base at F73D8000 FTPRNT32.DLL.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
  • A Diamond Supra modem is connected to your computer.
  • The FaxTalk Communicator drivers are installed on your computer.
  • The MegaPhone software is installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove the FaxTalk Communicator drivers and the MegaPhone software:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click either FaxTalk Communicator or MegaPhone, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the program.
  5. Restart the computer.

The MegaPhone software is a multi-function fax and phone utility that is included with some Gateway computers. The FaxTalk Communicator software is included as a component of the MegaPhone software.

FaxTalk Communicator is also a retail program that is included with different modems.
