XADM: Non-Delivery Reports Sent Because of Duplicate SMTP Proxy Address (258058)

When you send a message to a mail-enabled user or contact by using the recipient's SMTP proxy address, you may receive a non-delivery report (NDR) similar to the following:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: [Some subject]
Sent: [Date and Time]
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
UserName@microsoft.com on [Date and Time]
The address specified matches more than one recipients at the destination. Please specify a unique address and try again.
dns;ExchangeServer.microsoft.com failed 5.1.4
CAUSE
The same SMTP proxy address has been assigned to more than one object in Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory. In the application event log on the Exchange 2000 server, Event 9514 indicates which objects have the same SMTP address, such as:
Event ID: 9514
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Description:
Two objects in the Directory have the same proxy -
/DC=COM/DC=[DomainName]/CN=[ContainerName1]/CN=[Object1] and
/DC=COM/DC=[DomainName]/CN=[ContainerName2]/CN=[Object2]
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, find the objects that have duplicate SMTP addresses, and then change the SMTP address.
