INFO: Incorrectly Versioned Atl.dll Included with SNA Server Service Pack 1 (256089)

SUMMARY

Microsoft SNA Server Service Pack 1, which is included in the Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition, has an Atl.dll file version of 4.0.0.517. This .dll file is exactly the same as Atl.dll file version 2.00.7024.0.

You should remove version 4.0.0.517 of the .dll file from the system and replace it with version 2.00.7024.0 (which shipped with Visual Studio 97) or later. If you do not replace it, Setup will detect the newer Atl.dll (version 4.0.0.517) and not upgrade Atl.dll version 2.00.7024.0 to Atl.dll version 3.0.8168.0. (The version of Atl.dll included with Visual Studio 6.0 is 3.0.8168.0.)

This Atl.dll file should also be replaced in the stand-alone Enterprise Editions of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Interdev 6.0, and Visual J++ 6.0.

The Atl.dll with the correct version number is located in the following folders on CD-ROM 1 of the Enterprise Edition:

OS\System (Unicode version)
OS\System\Ansi (ANSI version)

SNA Server Service Pack 2 deletes the incorrectly versioned Atl.dll if it exists on the system and installs the correct .dll file.
