IntelliMouse: Cannot Scroll in Outlook 2000 Address Book (256037)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot use the wheel on any of the pointing devices listed at the beginning of this article to scroll in the Microsoft Outlook 2000 address book.

In addition, you may be unable to use the wheel to scroll through plain text messages in Outlook 2000.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

Outlook 2000 is listed on the "Exceptions for Universal Scrolling" list.

RESOLUTION

You may be able to enable scrolling by following these steps:

  1. Start Registry Editor.
  2. Locate the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Microsoft Input Devices\Mouse\Exceptions\23
    					
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type EnableScroll, and then press ENTER.
  5. Double-click the EnableScroll DWORD value.
  6. In the Value Data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
