SYMPTOMS

When you preview a Web page that contains a table with dotted or dashed borders, the print preview page may not be displayed properly.

The actual printout prints correctly.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because of how Internet Explorer measures inline borders.

Internet Explorer does not account for border height correctly when it measures inline elements. Any inline borders at the edge of the document can be cropped.

For example, a table with dashed borders may appear cropped on the top or the bottom of the cell or a table with dotted borders may contain circles that are not completely round when you zoom in.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
