XADM: Documentation Error in Chapter Titled "Installing Exchange" (255910)

SYMPTOMS

In Chapter 19, "Installing Exchange", of the Exchange 2000 Server documentation, the following step is listed under the procedure for running the domainprep command:

7. On the Recipient Update Server screen, type the name of the computer that will be your Exchange Recipient Update server for this domain. This computer must not be installed yet, but a computer account must exist in the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.

This should actually read:

7. On the Recipient Update Server screen, type the name of the computer that will be your Exchange Recipient Update server for this domain. This computer need not be installed yet, but a computer account must exist in the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

When you run domainprep as part of Exchange 2000 installation, you need to have a computer account for the Exchange Recipient Update server in Active Directory. This computer does not need to physically exist at that time. It can be installed later.
