SUMMARY

A text wrapping break ends the current line and forces the text to continue below a picture, table, or other item. The text continues on the next blank line that doesn't contain a picture or table aligned with the left or right margin.

NOTE: A text wrapping break is designed for use with a Web page; however, you can use it in a normal Word document as well.

You can produce the same effect as a text wrapping break by inserting additional blank lines to force the text below your picture or object. However, if the text beside the picture or object changes, you may need to adjust the subsequent text to keep it below your picture or object.

In contrast, a text wrapping break automatically adjusts the subsequent text below your picture or object without using additional blank lines.

To insert a text wrapping break, follow these steps:
  1. Place the insertion point at the end of the text that you want beside your picture or object.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Break.
  3. In the Break dialog box, click Text wrapping break, and then click OK.
