MORE INFORMATION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. On the Start menu, click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

  4. In the right pane, double-click Personal.
  5. Change the value to the path that you want to be the default attachment folder. For example, C:\My Attachments sets the default attachment folder to the "My Attachments" folder. If you change the value of the path to %USERPROFILE%\My Documents, the default attachment folder is set to your "My Documents" folder on a workstation that has more than one user profile. You must have rights to edit the registry for this to work correctly.
  6. On the Registry menu, click Exit, and then restart Outlook.
When you open a new mail message and attach a file, the attachment window shows the new folder.
