SYMPTOMS

When you click Open or Save on the File menu of any of the programs listed at the beginning of this article and then click the Look in list, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
<Program> caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0137:BFF9A5D0.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you use the Policy Editor (Poledit) to hide the Network Neighborhood.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
