"Trap 14" Error During Suspend on ACPI Computer with SRAM PC Card (249001)

SYMPTOMS

A "Trap 14" error message on a blue screen may occur if the following conditions exist:
  • The computer uses Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (APCI).
  • A static random access memory (SRAM) PC Card is inserted in the PC Card slot.
  • The computer is entering the Suspend state.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
