PHD2000: Graphics Are Not Centered When You Print with a Custom Image Size (248554)

  • Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000

This article was previously published under Q248554

SYMPTOMS

When you print images to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet, Epson Color Stylus, and other ink jet printers, the images may be printed off-center if you change the printer page orientation to Landscape.

Also, if you manually set the size of the image on the printed page, the image may get cut off at the margins if you manually resize the image to fit the printable area of the page.

CAUSE

This is a known problem with PhotoDraw 2000, version 1 when you manually try to fit the image to the printed page.

This problem can also occur when you use one of several printer drivers that have printable regions that are not centered on the page. In Portrait view, the nonprintable region on the top of the page is slightly smaller than the nonprintable region on the bottom of the page. When the page is changed to a landscape orientation, the nonprintable region on the left is larger than the nonprintable region on the right.

For example, when you set the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 520 to Landscape orientation, it has the following nonprintable regions:
Left:.59 inch
Right:.08 inch
Top:.25 inch
Bottom:.25 inch
If you choose not to fit your image to the page size, the image will be cropped by the printer when the printer prints the picture.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue use the Fit to page option to get the best fit to the printable region of the page.
