SYMPTOMS

If you install the parallel port drivers for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 for the Iomega Clik! drive in Windows 2000, you may not be able to start Windows 2000 or Windows 2000 may stop responding (hang) at the startup screen.

CAUSE

The Windows NT 4.0 drivers for the Iomega parallel port Clik! drive and USB Clik! drive are not supported and do not work in Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, start Recovery Console and disable the driver (the USB driver is: IOMUSB):
  1. Start your computer with the Windows 2000 Setup disks, or with the Windows 2000 CD-ROM if your computer supports starting from the CD-ROM drive.
  2. In the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press R to repair, and then press C to start Recovery Console.
  3. After you log on to your computer, type disable d3nt at a command prompt in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder.
  4. Restart your computer normally.
You may want to contact Iomega to inquire about obtaining a Windows 2000 driver for your parallel port Clik! drive.
