FS2000: Distant Textures Seem to Shimmer or Flicker (247637)

SYMPTOMS

When you fly in Flight Simulator 2000, textures in the distance may seem to shimmer or flicker.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • MIP Mapping is turned off in Flight Simulator 2000.
  • Your video adapter does not support MIP Mapping properly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, enable MIP Mapping in Flight Simulator 2000. To do this:
  1. Start a new flight in Flight Simulator 2000.
  2. On the Options menu, point to Settings, and then click Display.
  3. Under Advanced 3D harware options, click to select the MIP mapping check box, and then click the green CHECK MARK.
If the issue continues to occur, contact your hardware manufacturer to inquire about how to obtain and install the latest version of the video driver for your video adapter.
