  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q247596

SYMPTOMS

When you install a Digi EPC/X-ISA card and a Digi T1 modem bank on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer, using the 'all ports' option, Windows 2000 does not prevent you from installing modems on the communications (COM) port T1PORT(x). However, after you install modems there, Windows 2000 displays the following error message:
The communication device attached to port T1PORT1 is not functioning. (20013).
In addition, you cannot make or receive calls by using those modems.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the COM port T1PORT(x) incorrectly appears as an option for installing modems.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
