SYMPTOMS

When you configure Windows NT 4.0 Server for Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), the server may not select the optimum path to a network resource.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disable OSPF and add known static routes.
