To start the Unix window system background menu, follow these steps:

  1. To start Exceed's XConfig program, click Start, point to Programs, point to Exceed, and then click XConfig.
  2. Enter a password if the system prompts you for one, and then click Screen Definition.
  3. To the right of the box that appears, in Window Mode, click to select the circle next to the word Single, and then click OK.
  4. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Exceed, and then click to select Exceed.
  5. Open an Interix ksh, and type xterm &.
  6. When the xterm window appears, type twm &, or mwm &.
  7. Place the cursor along the edge of the xterm window, and click if you typed twm & or right-click if you typed mwm &, to view the Xwindow manager menu.
