PRJ2000: Percent Complete or Duration Change When You Change Task Type (245944)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you change the Task type setting for a task, the task's % Complete, Actual Work, Remaining Work, and Duration fields may change as follows:

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You change the Task type setting for a task as follows:

    • from Fixed Duration, to Fixed Work or Fixed Units

      -or-

    • from Fixed Work or Fixed Units, to Fixed Duration

  • The task % Complete field is greater than zero.
  • The task Actual Work field is greater than zero.
  • A resource is assigned to the task.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do not change the task type for a task while the task percentage complete is greater than zero.
