PRB: Hyperlink Opens ASP Page in Visual InterDev Instead of Browser (245747)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0

This article was previously published under Q245747

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD contains a tool called the Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer. This tool identifies the installed software products on your machine, checks the compliance level for these products from a local copy of the Microsoft Products Compliance Database, and then generates a report from this information.

If you have Visual InterDev 6.0 installed on your system and you click the report's hyperlink, an Active Server Page (ASP) page opens and Visual InterDev launches and loads the source of the ASP page.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because ASP pages are associated as Visual InterDev 6.0 files, causing Visual InterDev to run and open this page in edit mode.

RESOLUTION

When Visual InterDev opens the ASP page, switch to Quick View to run the page. This allows you to access all the information on this page.

STATUS

This behavior occurs with the Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer and is by design.

The report is an .htm file called Y2krep.htm. It contains a Compliance Section with a list of the products that are installed on the machine and hyperlinks to retrieve more information on the product listed. The hyperlink points to and opens a Web page (.htm or .asp) that is located on the CD.
