Access Violation in Btuser.exe Migrate User Wizard (245669)

SYMPTOMS

When you are running the BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS) User Migration Wizard (Btuser.exe) with the /i parameter to import user accounts from a previous SBS-based computer to a new SBS-based computer, you may receive the following Dr. Watson application error message:
BTUSER.EXE

Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x77f66b42
Note that the memory address may vary.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the Users.txt file that you are importing contains more than 512 characters in the Users or Groups section of the file.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
