If you are using Instant Messaging and you become disconnected from the network, your online status may persist for 20 minutes before it changes to an offline status. Although you have been disconnected, you can continue to send messages to other users without receiving any error messages informing you of your offline status.
CAUSE
During the Instant Messaging logon process, an update notification is issued to the Instant Messaging home server at an interval that is fixed at 20 minutes. As a result, you are not notified if you are disconnected until the server's next update notification.
