SYMPTOMS

The extended stored procedures xp_snmp_raisetrap and xp_snmp_getstate used to raise Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps in previous SQL Server versions are no longer available in SQL Server 7.0.

In Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, two extended stored procedures, xp_snmp_getstate and xp_snmp_raisetrap were available to raise SNMP traps. xp_snmp_getstate returned the state of the SQL Server through the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent and xp_snmp_raisetrap permitted a client to define and send a trap (an SNMP alert) to a SNMP client.

This feature is no longer available in SQL Server 7.0.
