ACC97: Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer May List Microsoft Jet 3.5 as Not Year 2000 Compliant (243463)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q243463 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer lists Microsoft Jet as not being compliant, even though you have previously applied Microsoft Jet Service Pack 2 (SP2) and/or Microsoft Jet Service Pack 3 (SP3), which are both year 2000 compliant.
CAUSE
The Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer generates a report on the compliance of products that it discovers based on the information in a compliance database.
However, the information in the first version of the compliance database is designed to fail if the version of Microsoft Jet it discovers is not the version that shipped with Microsoft Access SR-2. Because Microsoft Jet 3.51 SP2 and Microsoft Jet 3.51 SP3 are newer than the version that shipped with SR-2, they are incorrectly listed in the Product Analyzer Report as noncompliant.
RESOLUTION
If you have applied Microsoft Jet SP2 or Microsoft Jet SP3, disregard what the report may say about Microsoft Jet.
For current information about Microsoft products, download and run the latest version of the Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer.
NOTE: If products from other companies are added to the database, the accuracy of the reporting of those products reflects the thoroughness of the tests used to determine compliance for those products, and the care with which the database was edited.
STATUS
Microsoft will add this information to the y2kdbEN.txt database when the next update occurs.
