"Autorun" Installation Program Does Not Detect Removed Media (243443)

SYMPTOMS

If you insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, remove it, and then click Install Windows 2000 in the dialog box that appeared automatically when you inserted the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, nothing happens and you receive no error message.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive again.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

If you insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, remove it, and then click Browse This CD in the dialog box that appeared automatically when you inserted the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, you receive the following error message:
Drive:\ is not accessible. The device is not ready.
