GUI-Mode Settings Ignored in Windows 2000 Unattend.txt File (243286)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using an Unattend.txt file to automate the installation of Windows 2000, settings in your Unattend.txt file for the GUI-mode portion of Setup may be ignored and you may be prompted for information during GUI-mode Setup.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your Unattend.txt file contains the following entry:

[Unattended]
UnattendMode=GuiAttended

RESOLUTION

To specify the settings for GUI-mode Setup, change the UnattendMode key to:

[Unattended]
UnattendMode=FullUnattended

Then, add the GUI-mode settings to the Unattend.txt file.

The UnattendMode key defines the unattended Setup mode for GUI-mode Setup. If the UnattendMode key is set to "GuiAttended," you are prompted for the GUI-mode settings and any settings in the Unattend.txt file are ignored. If this key is set to "FullUnattended," the Unattend.txt file defines all the settings for GUI-mode Setup.
