SYMPTOMS

When you are sharing a program or programs in a NetMeeting conference, the initials displayed next to your pointer may not be your initials.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you have multiple names in the First name box. For example, this can occur if you type both your first name and middle name in the First name box. Because the first letter of each word in the First name box is displayed as your initials, you initials may appear to be incorrect.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that only 1 word appears in the First name and Last name boxes:

Using NetMeeting 2.x

  1. In NetMeeting, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click My Information.
  2. Make sure that only 1 word appears in the First name and Last name boxes, and then click OK.

Using NetMeeting 3.01

  1. In NetMeeting, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the General tab.
  2. Make sure that only 1 word appears in the First name and Last name boxes, and then click OK.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The first and last names are not stored separately. The full name is stored as a single text string, and the first two words in the string are used to create the initials.
