PRJ2000: Contour, Duration, and Units Change When Calendar Modified (242637)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q242637 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you modify a project calendar, task calendar, or resource calendar, other information that is related to task scheduling and tracking may also change, for example:
- Task percent complete
- Contours of actual work for assignments
- Task duration
- Resource assignment units
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- A task has a duration greater than 1-day.
- At least one resource is assigned to the task.
- You make a change to the task calendar, the project calendar, or the resource calendar that directly affects the task's schedule.
- The calendar modification coincides with a day on which actual work has already been recorded on the task.
- The calendar modification is for a day other than the Project Start Date.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- Select the task.
- On the Project menu, click Task Information.
- Click the General tab.
- In the Percent Complete field, type 0 (zero).
- Type the original duration for the task and click OK.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3.
- Type the Percent Complete value for the task, and then click OK.
- Repeat steps 1 through 7 for each affected task.
NOTE: If you make calendar modifications to dates where actual work has already been recorded, you may permanently lose custom actual work contours that have been reported.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
