PRJ2000: Group Headers Missing When Grouped Project Data Pasted as Picture (242617)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 2000

This article was previously published under Q242617

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you copy grouped project data, and then paste it as a picture into Microsoft Project, or another program such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, the group headers are missing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you do the following:
  1. In a grouped task or resource view of Microsoft Project, you select one or more tasks or resources and their associated group headers.
  2. You use the Copy Task or Copy Cell command to copy the selected items.
  3. In Microsoft Project or another program, you use the Paste Special command to paste the copied items as a picture.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Copy Picture command instead of Copy Task or Copy Cell. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Select the tasks or resources to be copied.

NOTE: If you are selecting only some of the tasks or resources in the project, make sure your selection includes the associated group header rows that you want to appear in the pasted picture.
  2. On the Standard toolbar, click the Copy Picture button.
  3. In the Copy Picture dialog box, click OK.

NOTE: Optionally, you can change the settings in this dialog box.
  4. Open the program in which you want to paste the picture.
  5. Use the Paste Special command (usually found on the program's Edit menu) to paste the copied tasks as a picture.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
