Dial-Up Networking Attempts to Reconnect to Disconnected Network Drives (240936)

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to an Internet service provider (ISP) using Dial-Up Networking and the computer is on a peer-to-peer network with disconnected network drives, Dial-Up Networking may attempt to reconnect to the disconnected drives when you log on to your ISP.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Logon and restore network connections network logon setting is enabled for the Client for Microsoft Networks.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
  2. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Properties.
  3. Click to select the Quick logon check box, click OK, and then click Close.NOTE: You may receive a message prompting you to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM. If so, insert the CD-ROM.

  4. Restart the computer.
