OL97: Option Buttons Missing Accessing the Outlook Address Book in Word (240844)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to access addresses from the Contacts folder, using the Insert Address Book command in Microsoft Word, the Mailing, Home, and Other address type selections are missing.

CAUSE

A key file used in the Address Book conversion, Schdmapi.dll, is either missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

Install or replace Schdmapi.dll.

To replace Schdmapi.dll, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  2. In the Named box, type Schdmapi.dll.
  3. In Look In, click to select My Computer, and then click Find Now.
  4. In the search results list, right-click to select Schdmapi.dll, if it exists, and then click Rename.
  5. Edit the file name extension to old.
  6. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  7. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Office 97, or Microsoft Outlook 97. Click Add/Remove to open Maintenance Mode Setup.
  8. In the Setup dialog box, click Reinstall and allow the process to complete.
