WD2000: DMM: Remove Does Not Uninstall After Upgrade to Newer Version (240667)

If you attempt to remove Direct Mail Manager (DMM) after upgrading it to a newer version, DMM is not removed.
WORKAROUND
To remove Direct Mail Manager after you have upgraded it to a newer version, do the following steps:
- Quit Direct Mail Manager and all Windows applications.
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Direct Mail Manager in the installed programs list.
- Click Add/Remove.
- Click Yes to the following message:
Are you sure you want to uninstall this product?
NOTE: DMM Setup will run and remove Microsoft Direct Mail Manager from the installed programs list on the Install/Uninstall tab. However, DMM is not actually removed at this point.
- Click OK to close the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.
- In the Control Panel dialog box, click Close on the File menu to quit Control Panel.
- Start Direct Mail Manager. To do this, on the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office Small Business Tools, and then click Microsoft Direct Mail Manager.
- In Direct Mail Manager, click Cancel.
NOTE: If Cancel is not available and DMM comes up to either Resume or Start Over, click Start Over and then click Cancel. - On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2 (or Microsoft Word 2000 Disc 2) and click Add/Remove.
- In the Maintenance Mode dialog box, do one of the following:
- To remove only Microsoft Direct Mail Manager, do the following steps:
- Click Add or Remove Features.
- Expand Microsoft Small Business Tools. To expand, either double-click Microsoft Small Business Tools, or click the plus sign to the left of Microsoft Small Business Tools.
- Click the icon for Microsoft Direct Mail Manager and click to select Not Available.
- Click Update Now. When Setup has completed, click OK.
- Click OK to close the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box and then click Close on the File menu to close Control Panel.

- To completely remove all of the applications, including Microsoft Direct Mail Manager, installed from CD2, do the following steps:
- Click Remove Office.
- Click Yes to the following message:
Are you sure you want to remove Microsoft Office 2000?
When Setup has completed, click OK.
- Click OK to close the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box and then click Close on the File menu to close Control Panel.
