SYMPTOMS

When you click a Web link in Microsoft Encarta World Atlas 2000, the Web page may not open.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you remove Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 from your computer.

If Internet Explorer 5 is not installed on your computer, you cannot connect to the World Wide Web from Encarta World Atlas 2000, even if another Web browser is installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall Internet Explorer 5.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Encarta World Atlas 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

If you remove Internet Explorer 5, you are not warned that this program is needed for Encarta World Atlas 2000 to function properly.
