Works 2000: Unexpected Behavior in the Word Processor Options Dialog Box (239989)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Works Word Processor, when you click Options on the Tools menu, the following unexpected behavior may occur in the Options dialog box:
  • English (Canada) is no longer present in the Choose dictionary box.
  • No English thesaurus files are listed in the Choose thesaurus box.
  • There is no default file showing in the Choose thesaurus box.
  • French (Standard) is now listed in the Choose thesaurus box.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you install the French version of Word 2000 after you have installed Works 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, reinstall Works 2000. To reinstall Works 2000, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Works 2000 CD-ROM.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. Type drive:\setup.exe in the Open box, where drive is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  4. Click OK.
  5. On the Welcome back screen, click Next.
  6. On the Options screen, click Reinstall.
  7. Click Next, and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
