Works 2000 Error Message: Memory Cannot Be Read (239982)

SYMPTOMS

When you quit the Newsletter template in a Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor document, Works Word Processor may stop responding, and you may receive the following error message:
Memory cannot be read.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
  • You insert an object into a Works Word Processor document and then save the document with the embedded object as the default Works template.
  • You quit Works Word Processor, and then use the Newsletter Template Wizard.
  • You quit the Works Newsletter document without saving it.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, do not insert objects into the default Works template.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
