Works 2000: Cannot Save Document as a Windows Write File (239362)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to save a Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor document as a Windows Write (.wri) file, you receive the following error message:
Works cannot save path/filename. There may not be enough space on the computer or Works can not save the file to the specified destination.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you upgrade from Microsoft Works 99 to Works 2000.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this behavior from occurring, do not attempt to save a Works 2000 Word Processor document as a Windows Write file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

When you upgrade from Works 99 to Works 2000, Works 99 is automatically removed before Works 2000 is installed. However, the Windows Write file converter is not removed, even though it cannot be used by Works 2000.
