Works: Works Word Processor Does Not Display Word Frames as Expected (239358)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Word document in the Works Word Processor, and the Word document contains autoshape objects that have been converted to frames, the frames do not appear in the Word Processor document.

The text that was in the frame does appear in the Word Processor document.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Works Word Processor does not convert the frames to text boxes.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use one of these methods:

Method 1: Create a Text Box

  1. Start Works Word Processor and open the Word document you want.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Text Box.
  3. Select the text that you want to place in the text box.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Cut.
  5. Place the insertion point inside the text box.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  7. Move the text box to the position you want on the document.
  8. Resize and/or format the text box the way you want.

Method 2: Create a Border

NOTE: You cannot adjust the size of a border.
  1. Start Works Word Processor and open the Word document you want.
  2. Select the text you want to place a box around.
  3. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
  4. In the Borders and Shading dialog box, in the Apply to box, click Paragraph.
  5. Under Borders, select the Line Style and the Line Color you want.
  6. Click Outline.

    Make sure that the border style you want appears in the Outline box.
  7. Click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

  2. On the Format menu, click Text Box.
When the Format Text Box dialog box appears, you can select the style, size, and other options you want.
