Works 2000: Works 2000 Word Processor Hangs When You Start with the Faxes Template (239346)

SYMPTOMS

When you start the Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor with the Faxes template on the Programs tab, the Works 2000 Word Processor may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You are using a Microsoft Windows 95-based or Microsoft Windows 98-based computer.

  • The Generic/Text Only printer driver is configured to be your default printer driver.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, configure your computer to use a different default printer driver:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer icon that you want to configure to be the default printer driver, and then click to select Set as Default.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
