Works Suite 2000: Silent Installation Is Interrupted with Internet Explorer 5.0 Error Message (239339)

SYMPTOMS

When you are installing Microsoft Works Suite 2000 on a Microsoft Windows 98SE computer, the silent (hands off) installation may be interrupted during installation of Microsoft Home Publishing 2000, and you may receive the following error message:
You are upgrading a version of Internet Explorer 5 in which the uninstall feature has been disabled.

If you continue, setup will update your PC with the newer version, but the uninstall feature will remain disabled.
When you click OK, the installation continues normally.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because of the installation of the newer version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works Suite 2000.
