SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Works 4.5 Rich Text Format (RTF) document in Works 2000 Word Processor, you may notice that not all the bullets from your Works 4.5 RTF document are displayed in your Word Processor document.

CAUSE

Bullets in RTF are displayed literally. That is, a bullet character is displayed, followed by a tab.

This issue occurs because the Works 4.5 converter is incomplete; therefore, it does not display all the bullets in Works 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, open your file in Works 2000 Word Processor, re-insert the bullets, and then save it as an RTF file. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open your Works 4.5 RTF document in Works 2000 Word Processor, and then re-insert the missing bullets.
  2. On the File menu in Works 2000 Word Processor, click Save As.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, select Rich Text Format (*.rtf) under Save as type.
  4. Type a file name in the File name box, and then click Save.
When you reopen your Works 2000 RTF document, all the bullets in your document are displayed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
