Works 2000: Unexpected Partial Borders Are Drawn on Newly Inserted Fields (239319)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000

This article was previously published under Q239319

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft Works 2000 database and add a left border, and you then insert additional fields before the field with the border, partial segments of the border may appear to the left of each new field.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you use the following border line styles (counting from the top): 3, 6, and 8. These include the two heaviest solid lines and the double-line border.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, change to a different view and then change back to List view; to do so, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Form.
  2. After the Form view appears, on the View menu, click List. Note that the partial border segments have disappeared.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

You may continue to work on the database in List view without removing the partial border segments. When you are finished working on the database, save the file as you normally would, and when the file is opened again the partial border segments do not appear.
